All activities are delivered alongside live marine construction across multiple assets and seasons, requiring precise planning and sequencing of works, simultaneous operations at multiple sites, strict HSE controls for vessel and diving operations, and the ability to scale resourcing rapidly around critical construction windows.
Large-Scale Coral Relocation and Specialist Studies
Over more than four continuous years, we have supported major coastal and marine developments through a combined programme of large-scale coral relocation and specialist environmental studies. Working in active construction environments, we help safeguard sensitive habitats while enabling critical marine infrastructure to progress on schedule.
Integrated programme — from field delivery to specialist advice
Our work brings together operational and advisory services under a single technical and HSE framework:
Coral relocation at scale:End-to-end services from donor-site surveys and recipient-site selection through to preparation of site-specific Coral Relocation Plans (CRPs), translocation, and long-term cleaning and maintenance of recipient sites and relocated corals.
Specialist studies: Technical inputs to risk-based operational frameworks for desalination (e.g., SWRO) and other marine infrastructure, drawing on baseline ecology, construction methods, and operational needs to manage and minimise environmental risks.
End-to-end delivery, designed for scalability
Assets covered: Multiple islands, channels, and nearshore assets within large coastal development zones, supported by a continuous, site-based presence under consecutive contracts.
Methods: Low-stress coral detachment, controlled transport to designated recipient sites, and permanent or temporary placement (e.g., on limestone boulders or raised platforms) to maximise survival and promote rapid establishment.
Risk-based frameworks: Specialist inputs to define environmental constraints, operational thresholds, and monitoring needs, aligning marine operations with regulatory expectations and ecological sensitivities.
Impact
A rigorous, regulator-approved process preserved large numbers of colonies that would otherwise have been lost and kept construction on schedule.
Continuity & coverage: Four years of uninterrupted, site-based operations across six assets under a single technical and HSE framework.
Defensible process: Regulator-aligned CRPs and traceable workflows from survey through to long-term maintenance and monitoring, supported by documented methods and quality assurance.
Biodiversity outcomes: Successful establishment across multiple recipient sites, including the RSG Logo site where coral communities are flourishing.
Operational assurance: Proven ability to surge resources for critical windows, then right-size for steady operations.
Across our portfolio, we have delivered multiple major end-to-end coral relocations and supported additional projects through specialist advisory work, together accounting for well over 100,000 colonies relocated across the region.
Why It Matters
A science-led approach that keeps critical reef habitat in place while allowing marine infrastructure to proceed. Targeted relocation, monitoring, and risk-based planning protect biodiversity, de-risk construction, and demonstrate that development and conservation can move forward together.
Impact
Corals Protected at ScaleRelocated and established 100,000+ coral colonies across major coastal developments.
Regulator-Ready ProcessesDelivered traceable, approved Coral Relocation Plans under a single technical and HSE framework.
Projects Kept MovingAligned coral protection with live construction to keep critical marine works on schedule.
